Collection And Use Of Financial Information
To improve customer convenience, AVB provides several ways in which our customers can conduct their banking business. One of these options is to bank online over the Internet at www.avb.bank.  Through AVB Online Banking, our customers are able to access personal financial information including account balances, transaction history and check images. In addition, customers can transact their banking business including transfer of funds, request account maintenance and pay bills.

In addition to traditional banking means, we gather and utilize various types of information through our website and through our secure banking system.  Much of this information is provided by the customer and we may verify it by outside third parties. We collect only information that is required to evaluate a request by you, offer you a service or to maintain your accounts. Information we may collect from third parties is often available from public records, demographic and survey information sources, credit reporting agencies as well as income, employment or other confidential information you provide to us. Types of information we collect include:

  • Information provided by you on applications, surveys or other means. This includes identification, contact information, income, assets and debts.
  • Information from consumer reporting agencies that reflect your credit and payment history.
  • Information from outside sources regarding your employment, credit history or other relationships with you for the purpose of verification of information you have provided to us. This would include employment history, credit history, loan balances, insurance coverages and contact information.
  • Information regarding your accounts and history with us. This would include account balances, transaction history, payment history, correspondence or other communications with you, transaction parties and use of products or services.
  • Information of a general nature that may not be used to qualify you for credit or other products and services such as demographic information.
We use this information to service your accounts, to qualify you for financial products or services and to package banking services that fit your individual needs.

Online Applications
Applications for new accounts or services, online banking enrollment, and general surveys completed online require you to provide personal information that is necessary for us to process your application. To ensure that your application remains confidential, the information is sent to us over a "secure session" established with Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

The information you provide to us via the Internet, along with information you have authorized us to collect from outside sources, will be maintained and used so that we can offer you accounts and services related to your financial needs. After you have submitted your application online, we recommend that you end your browser session before leaving your computer.

Online Surveys
The information you provide on surveys and promotions on our Website will be used for internal marketing purposes, including developing Website information and services that you may find helpful. In addition, we may inform you of new AVB accounts and services based on the information you provide to us.

Planning Tools, Calculators and Links to Other Sites
There are many financial planning tools located throughout our website, to assist our customers in handling their accounts and making financial decisions. We encourage customers to use these valuable tools in financial planning and transacting their business. Payment calculations may vary slightly from quotes you may receive from a banking associate. AVB does not collect or have access to the information you may enter into financial planning tools and calculators on our website. For customer convenience, links to other interesting and informative sites are available on our website. Links that may be of interest to customers include those for financial planning and banking as well as local information about the communities we serve. These sites are operated and maintained independently of AVB and as such, we do not control information on other Internet sites, and we disclaim any liability for the content of sites linked from www.avb.bank.

Email
Email is a convenient way to communicate between AVB and our customers. To improve the security of email transmissions, emails sent to us should be sent using AVB's secure email form. Since our response back to you is not secure, we will not include confidential account information in our response. AVB makes every effort to ensure that our online banking system is secure, however, the Internet is inherently insecure and electronic mail that occurs openly on the Internet can potentially be monitored and read by others. We cannot and do not warrant that all e-mail transmitted to and from us, will not be monitored or read by others. To meet statutory and legal requirements and to better service your banking needs, we may retain the content of your email communications, your email address and our response(s). We may contact you by email if we think that a particular AVB account or service might be of interest to you.

Online Security
If we ask for personal information on our website, we use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for transferring data. This technology encrypts - or scrambles - your account information so it is virtually impossible for anyone other than AVB to read it. In some areas of our online banking, we employ the use of "cookies" for additional security. A "cookie" is a small text file placed on your hard drive by our server. Cookies are commonly used to provide additional security and do not harm your system. You determine if and how a cookie will be accepted through configuring your preferences or options in your browser. Cookies are used to determine if you are a recognized user of online banking. They do not collect personally identifiable information, and we do not combine information collected through cookies with other personal information to determine who you are or your e-mail address. A more detailed description of our online security is provided upon enrollment in online banking.

Protecting Online Banking Security and Privacy
When you bank online with AVB, we have access to your information. In addition, third party providers of service may also have access to your information. This information may be retained on our third party systems in order to provide you with necessary service. We use state-of-the-art Internet technology, supported by the outside companies we work with, to keep online banking secure and to protect your financial information. We require a login ID and secure password before providing access to your accounts. Without this information, we cannot and will not establish banking service or information access for you.

What You Can Do to Safeguard Your Financial Privacy Online
